It has been a hundred years since the Titanic’s unfortunate maiden voyage that sank the ship. Now, it is being brought back again with a little more touch of charm to it by an Australian mining billionaire, Clive Palmer, in the form of Titanic II. Although the tragedy had been filmed in fiction time and again, it was James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster film that made Titanic the icon it has become, not just a classic film, but a tragedy to remember in marine history.

The new Titanic, Titanic II, will just be an exact replica of the original one and will also take the same route from England to New York in 2016. People are eager to travel through a marine cruiser. They sure would like to be a part of this historic revival of a historic ship. According to the US Department of Labor, the real Titanic cost of building was $7.5 million in 1912, but if adjusted for inflation, it will be $174 million in today’s worth of money.

Clive Palmer, who is daring on such a risky adventure of investment has an estimated worth of $3-6 billion. Today’s Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class cruise ships cost almost $1.5 billion, which means that Titanic II has to be really impressive, besides being expensive, to surpass the luxury already being offered by other cruising companies. However, it might just be a publicity stunt by Palmer to win Australian Parliamentary seat and an attempt to mine in China by building business relations.
