Locate Misplaced Items in Your Home through Kinsight
This is almost like having a private detective working for you round the clock. With Kinsight system you can now be able to locate misplaced things in your own home. Instead of wasting hours searching for what you need at the moment and are also in a hurry, you can just use this computer system to locate the lost item. Developed by two computer scientists from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, this is an experimental system that works through Microsoft Kinect depth-sensing cameras which are to be placed in different rooms.
Though this technology is just a prototype and has not been introduced in the market, but it sounds just like something that everyone needs to have before they have a TV with a remote control that often gets temporary lost. The items have to tagged in order to be searched or it could be searched through its last known location. The cameras move along with people to track sizes and shapes of things and then track down what is needed.
This technology sure does need improvement and the innovative inventors are working on an app that can make this process of searching simpler. For now it can track only objects of fist-sized hands, which are obviously the ones more likely to have been left here and there and forgotten. The big things are often easily seen. It can track objects to size of up to 5 inches.
