Europe’s Tallest Building, the Shard is Expensive
If you wish to see the tallest buildings in the world, simply visit the New York City or Chicago. Europe is not the place to visit when it comes to tall buildings, but it sure is a place to visit for architectures as it holds some of the most beautifully made buildings in the entire world. In fact, the architecture of the most modern cities in the world has been inspired from Europe. Recently, however, Europe had the pleasure of inaugurating its tallest building yet.
The Shard is located in London, is not only the tallest building in the UK, but the entire continent. So many excited Londoners were gathered to participate in this historic opening taking place in their city. This new addition to London’s skyline is also being referred to as Shard London Bride, the London Bridge Tower or the Shard of Glass. The architectural firm Broadway Malyan has been behind its building design. It has a total of 72 floors that reach the height of 245 meters (804 feet). There is also a viewing gallery and an open-air observation deck, which is also the highest in the UK.
The construction began on March 2009 and was completed in April this year. The building will be opened to the public in February next year. The building will contain mostly offices and also a 200-bed 5-star hotel. There will also be ten apartments priced at around £50 million each. The building is expected to have a full sale by the end of 2014.
